Rosenthal-Bielatal & surroundings

Between rock towers, the Biela and Florence on the Elbe

The Bielatal is one of the quietest and at the same time most rock-rich valleys in Saxon Switzerland. Anyone holidaying here has hiking trails, climbing peaks and bathing lakes right outside – and three of the most beautiful cultural cities in Central Europe within day-trip range.

Climbing & hiking

230+ climbing rocks right outside

The Bielatal is considered the climbing area with the most peaks in Saxon Switzerland: more than 230 climbing rocks line the valley, including the famous Herkulessäulen. A dense network of trails runs through the Elbe Sandstone Mountains – the Malerweg and Forststeig are practically on the doorstep.

Fortresses & table mountains

Königstein and the table mountains

Königstein Fortress, one of the largest hilltop fortresses in Europe, towers above the Elbe valley just a few kilometres away. From there the table mountains of Saxon Switzerland – from the Pfaffenstein to the Schrammsteine – beckon with views that already inspired the Romantics.

Cities & culture

Dresden, Görlitz, Prague

Dresden is about 30 minutes away by car: the Zwinger, Semper Opera and Frauenkirche tell 800 years of cultural history. The baroque city of Görlitz and golden Prague are also easy to reach for day trips – culture and nature in perfect combination.

Hochofen Brausenstein, alte Mühlen an der Biela, die Kaiser-Wilhelm-Feste und der ehemalige Kurort Schweizermühle: Alle Sehenswürdigkeiten im Bielatal mit Lage und Geschichte.
